Rodney began his standup comedy career in Texas, where he performed at local venues and clubs. His live acts gained significant exposure and he later appeared on the radio show, The Bob and Tom Show. In 1998, Rodney released his debut studio album Hangin' with Rodney on the Mercury Records. The album consisted of original songs as well as standup performances and made it to 73 spot on the Top Country Albums chart. Due to fan favorite hits like Fred and Letter to My Penis, the album managed to sell over four hundred and fifty thousand copies.
After his debut release, Rodney produced five more studio albums, one live album and one Greatest Hits record. His second record, Morning Wood became his first Top 20 album on the Top Country Albums chart and reached number six position on the US Heatseekers chart. The album comprised of Rodneys first charting single More of a Man. The album has since then been certified Gold in the US. This was followed by 2003 album Nut Sack that featured a Top 60 single Dont Look At Me. In 2004, Rodney released a compilation album, Greatest Hits. The album reached number three position on the Top Comedy Albums chart and made it to 11th spot on the Top Country Albums chart. It was certified Platinum by the RIAA after selling millions of copies throughout the country.
The Live Show
Rodneys most recent studio album, El Nino Loco was released in June 2009. The album landed at number two position on the Top Comedy Albums chart and number nineteen on the Top Country Albums chart. Rodney continues to perform in front of sold out crowd around the country. His mix of standup comedy and country songs have made his live events a highly sought after affair.
