Born to a musician father, Laura Pausini had exposure to music from an early age. She made her debut performance when she was only eleven years old. After that she regularly accompanied her father for local performances at piano bars and also sang with the church choir. While still at school, Pausini started taking part in local music competitions and went on to win the Sanremo Music Festival. After winning the festival she rapidly gained fame across Europe for her ballad ‘La solitudine.’ The platinum selling single charted among top five in Belgium, France and Netherland.
Following the success of her debut single, Laura Pausini released her self-titled album. It was a big hit. She followed with a second album ‘Laura’ which went on to sell over three million copies internationally. So far the artist has released ten studio albums, three compilation albums and three live albums. Most of her albums have been certified platinum and gold.
She has also contributed soundtracks for the films Pokémon 2000: The Power of One and Message in a Bottle. The sought after singer has collaborated with many notable music personalities. These include Pavarotti, Marc Anthony, Ray Charles, Michael Bublé, Phil Collins, Andrea Bocelli and Gloria Estefan.
The artist’s fame has won over audiences across, Europe, US and Latin America in recent years. She is also regarded highly by critics. Evidence of this lies in her winning around eighty prestigious awards from across the globe. She successfully completed a sixth world tour last year. In December 2013 she kicked off another world tour. The recent tour named ‘The Greatest Hits World Tour’ will see the artist performing across Europe, US, Latin America and Canada.
