Atlanta is home to some of the most renowned and talented musicians of the R&B and hip-hop music scene. Hence, it comes as no surprise when KISS 104.1 radio station hosts its annual Flashback Festival for thousands of fans in and around the city.
Aarons Amphitheater at Lakewood
Founded in 1989, Aarons Amphitheater is Southeast Atlanta's leading concert venue that provides one-of-a-kind concert experience to the patrons. Once known as the Lakewood Amphitheatre, the venue has had several names over the years but it has always been a great venue for big live shows.
The Atlanta based amphitheatre has a seating capacity of nearly nineteen thousand people. Around seven thousand seats are located under the cover, while the remaining twelve thousand seats are placed in a huge lawn. Although the lawn seats are located far from the stage, the two large video screens make you feel closer to the stage. The lawn is actually a huge hill that is designed for an unrestricted view of the staged for people sitting in rows on the ground. Many people prefer to sit on the hill top because there is a wall against which they can lean. Even though you are far from the stage, it is lovely to watch the sunset behind the stage. The venue has superb acoustics and superior lighting designed to provide an amazing summer concert experience not only to the attendees but also the artists. Other than that, the arena has got plenty of bathrooms, and people do not have to wait in line even when it is crowded.
Flashback Festival Live
The Flashback Festival is all about a few hours of great music that makes you feel good about life. Even if you have had a chance to watch Brick perform live, it is no less than icing on the cake. It is a great idea to arrive well before the show's starting to enjoy the tailgating experience and also to avoid the traffic hassle. All music performances are just wonderful and the line-up is always great; hats off especially to Cupid, Faith Evans, Jeffrey Osbourne, SOS Band and Morris Day, who lightened up the venue with their great stage presence at the 2012 event. People have loved the excellent musicianship of Morris Day and the Time band. Due to his series of hits and sheer talent, Jeffrey Osborne also took the crowd by a storm by dropping hit after hit at the 2012 event.
The highlight of the 2010 event was Doug E Fresh's interaction with the audience. Despite the on-going technical difficulties, Midnight Star continued to perform without stopping the show. The guest artists that have performed at the Flashback Festival include The Gap Band, Stephanie Mills, Jeffrey Osborne, The S.O.S. Band, Confunkshun, Teena Marie and Keith Sweat, among many others. The credit goes to the DJs have done a wonderful job in bringing the show back on track.
The Flashback Festival is a wonderful event with a party atmosphere and positive old school fun. The sound system provides a top-notch musical experience to the attendees the entire night. The event is becoming better with each passing year, hence people who attended last year's festival are returning again to book their share of Flashback Festival tickets.
