The Eagles is the name of the multiple award winning rock band from the seventies. The band started off from Los Angeles as a quartet named as Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner. They have been the most popular recording artists of their times with an impressive profile of five number one singles and six top rated albums. They have been one of the "Greatest Artist of All Times" as hailed by Rolling Stone Magazine.
The Eagles have been in the music industry since 1971 and have released seven studio albums and 29 singles. Their albums Greatest Hits and Hotel California have been ranked as one of the best selling albums in the US by the Recording Industry Association of America. Rolling Stone Magazine has also declared the Eagle's Hotel California as one of the greatest albums of all times. Eagles have been awarded six Grammy awards for various albums and singles. The Grammy award winning album of the Eagles was Hotel California along with "Lyin' Eyes", "New Kid in Town", "Heartache Tonight", "How Long" and "I Dreamed There Was No War" as the winning songs.
Eagles consisting of Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit are a rock band from Los Angeles. The band started when Glenn Frey and Don Henley were recruited as supporting musicians for Linda Ronstadt in 1971. Later Randy Meisner and Bernie Leadon also joined in the group to create the quartet .This union consequently evolved into Eagles and they were signed up by the Asylum Records Artists.
The first ever album by the band was an eponymous released in 1972 and it was certified as Platinum. The album was an outright success with three singles cracking up various charts. These chart busting singles were "Take It Easy", "Witchy Woman" and "Peaceful Easy Feeling". This album was a combination of blues and soft country rock establishing them as a major South Californian country rock musical group. Infact they are considered to be the one of the trendsetters in popularizing southern rock music.
Their next two albums were "Desperado "and "On the Silver" released in the following years. These albums became extremely popular with a multi platinum certification. In 1975 they came up with their fourth album "One of These Nights", the album repeated their success story by topping the charts and reaching multi platinum ranking.
A year later, the Eagles came up with their fifth studio album called "Hotel California". This album has been the most popular studio album by the Eagles till date. The album was certified 17 times platinum while topping all the major country rock charts worldwide. The album has sold over sixteen million copies only in the US. The two tracks off the album "New kid in the City" and "Hotel California" also topped the Billboard charts. The album metaphorically focuses on the ever increasing materialism and dissolution resulting into the decline of the country. It touches the sensitive themes of insanity, materialism, separation of art, loss of innocence, death, drugs, superficiality and emptiness of lives. The songs of the album were nominated for Four Grammy awards out if which they brought home two awards.
The next studio albums released by the band were The Long Run and Long Road out of Eden. These albums once again well received by the fans and cracked up the charts by reaching top positions.
Eagles have also released two live and nine compilation albums. The most successful album ever by this band is actually their compilation released in 1975. The album was named as "Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975)" and is one of the best selling albums worldwide with a sales record of 42 million copies.
